Power flushing removes long built up deposits of dirt and sludge from your heating system and should also improve heat transfer and efficiency. It is also now part of building regulations when fitting a new or replacement boiler.
Using a Kamco power flushing machine we first flush the system with cleaning chemicals and then with clean water. Finally we add a suitable system inhibitor to keep the water in your system cleaner for longer.
We charge a reasonable and fair price that covers our labour, plus any chemical costs. As an indicator, a well-maintained system with ten radiators will take about half a day. If your system has not been cleaned in a long time and your heating water is black or heavily sludged up, you should expect the process to take at least a full day.
It’s important to mention that, very occasionally, when deposits and sludge are removed from the system and fresh inhibitor added, pre-existing pinholes can be exposed and may allow water to leak out from radiators or fittings or even a boiler. Any resulting replacement parts or subsequent labour are not the responsibility of Blackburn and Collier Ltd, though we will always endeavour to fix any problems quickly and fairly.
